Very few homes display "For Sale" signs on their front lawns. An occasional "For Lease" sign sprouts up here and there, but it seems Milwood residents are happy right where they are. Why wouldn't they be? With easy access to the rest of Austin, a gorgeous neighborhood and amenities of all sorts just within reach, Milwood seems to be a good choice to purchase a house in. Milwood is bordered to the North by Parmer Lane and Duval to the South. The homes are modern one and two story, placed on grassy plots of land. Neighbors are just a stone's throw away, watering their lawns and taking care of their lawns and shrubs in their front and back yards. This subdivision, with over 2700 units is perfect for the first time home buyer or those looking for affordable homes in a well maintained area that is serviced by acclaimed schools, and have outstanding community ammenities, not to mention convenient shopping. It makes sense. Currently, homes range from the $145's to the $270's, with an average range of 1,750 square feet of space. The welcoming streets are well-maintained and boast an extremely reasonable price tag compared with other areas. One of the appeals is there's a lot of mature trees in the neighborhood, and it's a neighborhood where you can get a modestly priced house without having to really travel far up north into Williamson County. "With the prices these homes have, they're more affordable than buying brand-new houses." Convenient access to Interstate 35 and Loop 1 (Mopac) 620 and 183 make Milwood an ideal location for those looking to ease their commute to and from work each day. Several shopping centers are available for Milwood residents including the newly opened Domain. Several strip centers wish house supermarkets and other businesses are also centrally located. The Rattan community Park and Pool, Robinson Park and the Balcones Park and Pool as well as a fabullous Greenbelt with a popular hike, bike and running path are recreational highlights in the community, which is used by residents of all ages. I have been specialized in the Milwood area for close to 10 years. Another appeal of the area is the neighborhood's image. The picturesque landscape of Milwood makes it an ideal location to raise a family. In addition to a nicely laid-out community, Milwood offers a strong and active neighborhood association. Membership is offered to all residents who pay annual dues. The Rattan Creek Neighborhood Association www.rattancreek.org as well as the Milwood Neighborhood Association www.milwoodna.com both organize and sponsor several community events and services to the area residents. There is a voluntary membership of $25.00 per year. Pool Parties, Fall Festivals, Neighborhood Watch, Easter Egg Hunts, Caroling in the Park and other festive events are highlighted. Please visit the website noted above for the two Associations specific events and activities which are aimed to improve the community and quality of life for residents. The Association also organizes a neighborhood-wide garage sales, offers college scholarships to graduating high school seniors and publishes newsletters for community members. Children in the area attend Summit, Pond Springs or Jollyville Elementary Schools. Middle Schools include Murchison or Deer Park Middle School and Anderson or Mc Neil High School. Utilities are provided by the city as well as North Austin M.U.D. 1 in certain parts of the subdivision. |
